Facing daily tooth pain, bullying and an unstable home, Cheyenne struggled both inside and out of the classroom as she tried to keep her focus on school. Working with a local dentist, CIS Site Coordinator Cassie arranged for Cheyenne to receive free dental treatment, supported her emotional well-being and helped Cheyenne reach her full potential. Inspired by the help she received from CIS, Cheyenne is now a 4.0 high school student with plans to become a child psychologist for at-risk kids

As a sixth-grader, Hector was struggling to stay interested and engaged at school – and had report cards full of D’s to show for it. CIS Site Coordinator Xochitl advocated for Hector, making sure that teachers were on top of the issues and meeting weekly with him to make sure he was staying on the path to success. Hector is confident and focused at school, receives A’s and B’s in the classes he struggled with before and is planning on studying engineering in college.
