Share your time, talent and resources with our youth -- make a difference in their lives!

Performance Learning Center - PLC

  • Mentor: a trusted adult, a friend, a counselor, a tutor or a coach.
  • Office Administrator: provides clerical support.
  • Activities Coordinator: assists with project/service learning events.
  • Youth Advisor: assists with National Youth Service Day.
  • Speaker: Career Development and Motivational speakers to assist with "Morning Motivation".

The Georgia Literacy Connection

  • Tutor: work with children, grades K-5, in Marietta City and Cobb County Schools to improve reading ability and comprehension. One hour per week minimum. Training is provided and schedule is flexible.
  • Reader: visit schools on an occasional schedule to read to a classroom of children. Dressing as a storybook character is optional.
  • Book Drive Assistant: assist literacy coordinator in collecting new and gently used books, label and sort books for distribution at schools.
  • Book Distribution Coordinator: conduct book distributions at local schools utilizing donated books.
  • Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) Assistant: assist with book distributions, parent classes and "Twice Upon A Time" reading event. Flexible weekday and evening hours.

Parent Education Programs

  • Special Event Coordinator: assists Parent Educator with special event planning and coordination of events for parents and children at PIRC and Youth Centers.
  • Childcare Coordinator: assist with childcare for children of parents attending classes offered by CISMCC. Day/Evening hours.
  • Incentive Coordinator: solicit incentives to be given to parents attending Parents Assuring Student Success (PASS) classes.
  • Parent Educator: facilitate PASS classes. Training will be provided. Flexible hours.

Fund A Program

  • $50 will fund 25 lunches on a field trip, student attendance awards, or school supplies for one student.
  • $100 will fund one CISMCC field trip, admission fees for 25 students or a business skill class for 18 students.
  • $300 will fund one student at a week-long summer leadership program, including lodging, cafeteria meals, workshops and parking.
  • $500 will fund a parenting class for 12 parents at a local school or a scholarship for one CIS student upon high school graduation.
