PASSport To Success Training Program

This program recognizes the importance of parental involvement in education and focuses on academic achievement rather than life-skills parenting. A letter from the United States Secretary of Education states that,

"Research shows that all families, whatever their income or education level, can take concrete steps that significantly help children learn. And yet families are often the missing link in American education."

PASSport To Success (PASS) was designed with parents in mind. It opens the lines of communication with the schools and helps to draw parents in. PASS helps parents improve the learning environment for their children.

PASS will help parents teach their children to:

  • Manage time
  • Listen
  • Concentrate
  • Manage homework
  • Study textbooks
  • Prepare for and take tests
  • Take notes
  • Organize information
  • Improve their memory and thinking skills
  • Improve their reading skills

The classes are given over a period of 4-8 weeks with each session lasting about 2 hours. Refreshments are served and childcare is provided. A commitment to attend all classes is required. Parents who complete the course receive a certificate of completion.

The class will be given and/or monitored by Communities In Schools of Marietta/Cobb County, Inc.
